Last week already seems so far away because it was such a busy week.
I interviewed at one school Monday and I interviewed at another school on Wednesday. Both interviews went very well and I felt confident about both of them. I found out at the first interview that I was one of 5 candidates - which made me feel very nervous about standing out. The second interview I felt very confident - it was a unique interview but I felt confident that they liked me.
Originally, I was told that I would have to wait until Friday for an answer. Imagine my surprise when I got a call Thursday night by the school I interviewed with on Monday and was offered the position. I gladly accepted the position. Aaron was very excited for me as was almost everyone else. I was told that I sign my contract on Friday pending approval by the school board on Thursday.
The following day I was offered the position at the second job I interviewed with - which was a huge boost in confidence that both positions accepted me.
Aaron is trailing two job leads here in Rolla and we are both keeping our hopes up about that.
In a few weeks we'll be relocating to a house in Rolla that we'll be renting from Aaron's parents. Hey everyone - with a job and a "house" its almost like being grown-ups! ;)
P.S - the quotations around the title are for Futurama fans! Enjoy!
Just curious...what does a unique job interview look like?
ReplyDeletea unique job interview consists of 20 minuts of questions about where you are from and about your husband and why we were in Laramie. No questions about my teaching philsophy or any important questions like that. Then, you get walked to the parking lot so she can meet you husband (WHAT?!!) and then you get sent to the superintendent for a second interview down the road.
ReplyDeleteThat is a unique interview.
Maybe I'm being too much of a feminist - but I'd like to think that what my husband does and what he looks like has nothing to do my getting a job. I've only talked to one other person who thinks its OK for the principal to meet the family - so I know I'm right.
ReplyDeleteI am a smart, educated, amazing woman and I don't need my husband to help me get a job or validate my existence!
Can you tell that hit a nerve when she did that??

Oh Yeah! Did I mention that she answered the phone during my job interview? :\
ReplyDeleteI didn't like that either.
Legally they can't ask you questions about your family. Glad you got a job though.
